Jane McCoy

Jane McCoy is Professor of Voice at Warren Wilson College.She is also Lecturer in Music at Montreat College where she teaches voice and vocal literature. In addition, she is Minister of Music at First Baptist Church, Weaverville, directing 5 choirs. Jane is a graduate of Mars Hill College and also holds an M.M. degree in Vocal Performance and Pedagogy from the University of Colorado at Boulder. She has taught on the faculties of Wingate University and UNC-Charlotte, performed as soloist with the Asheville Symphony Chorus and the Charlotte Oratorio Singers, and performs as a frequent soloist in church and concert settings throughout the area. Jane also enjoys Musical Theater and has performed such roles as Lady Thiang in The King and I and Glenda in The Wizard of OZ. She also was an extra in Steven Spielburg's A Color Purple! She and her husband Jim met in a 70's folk group and they continue to sing together for church and community groups. Jane is an active member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) and has served as adjudicator for many NATS auditions as well as other competitions. She and Jim live in Weaverville with teenage daughters Claire and Sarah.
