The Geographic Information Systems laboratory is gearing up for its second academic year as a resource for students in the natural and social sciences. We are excited to finally get our hands on the new LIDAR data for Western North Carolina, and we will also be playing with some new open source GIS tools. There will be an introductory GIS course taught in both fall and spring, and an advanced GIS course in the spring. There will also be a very busy GIS crew.
