First Year students jump in to the Service leg of the Triad during Orientation at Service Day. With their First Year Seminar class, they engage in more service. Most first year students decide these planned projects do not provide enough service to fill their appetite so they participate in other activities organized by the Service-Learning Office, First Year Programs or other groups on campus. A few first year students even finish the year with more than 100 service hours! The first year student with the most service hours at the end of the Fall semester is honored as the Service Star.

A group of first year students went to Hope for Horses for a service trip. The organization provides a happy place for abused and abandoned horses, like Spirit (pictured above), to live while the staff searches for families to adopt them.

First Year Programs past crew member Elizabeth Brenum painted this shed, which can be easily spotted as you drive along to road to Hope for Horses.
