If you want are unable to attend the Herbal Symposium, OR you want to spend more time with Terezhina de Jesus Soares Dos Santos, then join us for a one hour presentation and one-hour question and answer period.  A Green Walkabout of the WWC campus will follow.

“Teka” is a researcher in Phytotherapy for the Institute of Scientific Research and Technology for the State of Amapa, Brazil.

Originally from Amapa, she has been a researcher at IEPA since 1998.  From 1999 to 2000 she was acting Director-President of IEPA.  Her work includes developing work to aid in the production of phyto-therapeuticals, evaluating protocols with volunteer subjects and research on the region’s natural products for use as food and cosmetics.  This work is also aimed at changing the quality of lives of women in agriculture and support in training the Women Extractionists Association of the Cajari Reserve in production methods for homemade soap using locally abundant oil producing species.

Terezinha received her B.S. in Pharmaceuticals at the Federal University of Para, specializing in Environmental Toxicology at the Federal University Fluminense and Oswaldo Cruz Foundation Worker’s Health Institute, both located in Rio de Janeiro.
